Welcome
Life throws us into these incredible journeys and we have the great fortune of riding this adventure rides of reality… if we can remain open to all that lies ahead. The love, the bliss… the challenges, the heartaches. I am an at-home mom of three amazing kids. Each so unique to the next, yet so incredibly intertwined. I would have never guessed, being pregnant with my first child, that I would have been on this life path I find myself on now. Attachment/peaceful parenting. Homeschool…. Radical Unschooling. All foreign terms to me just a short eight years ago. As I still deschool and relearn myself, along with my children, I find life is full of it’s challenges and joys. With my incredible husband, I have come to a point where I finally realize I am (and life is) not so perfect, can’t always be, and that’s just ok. What’s thrived through this journey and continues to grow, is an evolving stronger family and a precious life together. I thank you for sharing in this journey.

Denial

Yep…. that’s me. Serious denial that fall classes, well at least a few of them, are underway starting tomorrow. I’m just not ready for it. Really, just not ready for the idea that weather is changing and that winter is on its way. I was super good about our schedule this fall, so not really [...]

Just finished watching Shutter Island… I’m still a little creeped out by it and wonder if I’ve become much more of a wimp in my motherhood years. It was a bit disturbing, and I think I’m really glad I never did end up seeing it on the big screen. I think that would have been [...]

Yep, this week feels much like a staycation sorta week. I’m thrilled to have not so much scheduled, and the kids seem to finally be feeling the groove of it too. I always feel guilty being home a much as a week like this, but ultimately feel wonderful when we do. We had a full [...]

So, I believe it is completely official…. I am mildly allergic, or at the very least intolerant of cow’s milk. Yep. My attempt a a chocolate malt b/c that’s what I was craving has failed miserably. I feel yuck. Fortunately, not puking it up, but definitely going to a long night. This was a growing [...]

While I share no religious affiliation with this story, I can so relate to this article. I feel tormented when I see these massive tree tearing down projects, and quite frankly, quite helpless in the process. This (article/situation) is just taking it step further to have pushed a family so far, and even to the [...]

So while the job-thing is going ‘alright’…. and I mean just alright. Trying to be grateful that employment has entered our household again, but not thrilled about the night shift thingy…. plus yesterday he was called in for a mere 3 hours before his shift, only to come home for about an hour, eat, and [...]

Are not my cup of tea. I love weekends of chill…. This weekend is just not one of them. Longing for a day to just be at home… and not quite seeing it in the very near future. This one was packed full of errands for starters. The only one who willingly went with me [...]

So we didn’t have much on the schedule today… at all really. But I did have plans to head over to my dad’s in the evening for a little get-away date with pops. D wanted to go to the park and K did not. So I bribed K into a park visit if we went [...]

And looking forward to this week being more mellow than it’s been. I’ve not been keeping up well, and though thoroughly trying to enjoy everything going on, I don’t think I have done a very good job of that till after the fact. That’s surely not the way I anticipate things going, but b/c things [...]

Ha… sometimes I wonder, you know!?
I wonder how many moms out there plan these excrutiating days where it’s one thing after another and the day goes off without a hitch and at the end of the day you want to put yourself on a pedestal b/c you did it! You are super mom! Today was [...]
Frakkin Mosquitoes

Yes… you heard me right. I’m so sick of this influx of mosquitoes it’s painful. I swear there has been this enormous boom of these stanky lil’ bugs in the last week or two that has been just painful for me. I swear they smell some hormone from me, or maybe just the fact that [...]

Breast Milk Sugars Give Infants a Protective Coat

Published: August 2, 2010
A large part of human milk cannot be digested by babies and seems to have a purpose quite different from infant nutrition — that of influencing the composition of the bacteria in the infant’s gut.
The details of this three-way relationship between mother, child [...]

So I haven’t felt much like blogging lately. The weekend was pretty mellow, except pushing hard to get S over a cold quickly. We seemed to do pretty well on that one… he came down with it on Friday. Friday night was less than pleasurable. And Saturday he was pretty drippy and I was pretty [...]

K just had his ‘big’ class of the summer. The Orion class he’s been awaiting since the end of Princess Bride in the spring. He spent the morning learning quarterstaff moves and routines, and then the afternoon learning how to storm a castle and do field battle. D even joined in during the afternoon as [...]
