Today was a day that I shed a proud “I can’t believe my child just accomplished that for herself” kinda tear. At EHS she made this adorable friend L who just is such a little peach. She is about 9 or 10 years old and a very confident little girl who has just swooped down and picked D up with such adoration. She was asked to read a poem in front of the EHS community one Sunday morning and she said she would if D would join her. D actually agreed, brought home the poem and worked really really hard to learn that poem before the big day.
Today was that day. Just before they went up to read their poem, they were then asked to also lead in a song as well! D got up there with her friend, recited that lovely poem AND lead the song for the group. And, I could actually hear her on the microphone! ; )
Awe, what a moment. It took a lot to choke back them tears. She has not done something like that before, and I could just see the pride beaming from every crevasse of her being. Precious.
I leave with two great quotes I heard today:
Forgiveness: realizing that we can’t improve the past
I hope Karma slaps you in the face before I do (this one is especially pertinent for me right now : )
