Thank you so much for re-posting this. This is the most gorgeous thing I’ve seen. Everytime I give birth I think about the other 365,000 women that are birthing that day as well… we share so much with the rest of the world, children connect us!

I’m not sure this sentiment is really a contest-winning one, but I started babywearing because of convenience! I have 9-month-old twins who were born prematurely and came home from the hospital with apnea monitors. I was desperate to take them out for walks (mostly to get out of the house myself), but I could not lug two car seats, two apnea monitors, our lightweight stroller, and two infants down three flights of stairs. I would wear one and carry the other one and put the monitors in a backpack. We finally got rid of the monitors and my husband and I would both wear one of the girls because even without them, the carriers were so much more convenient than the bulky stroller.

I can go to the grocery store with one baby riding in the cart and the other in a sling– if I did not babywear, I would not be able to shop on my own. The winter has forced me to be more adventurous, too. The stroller will not get through the piles of snow at intersections or the unshoveled sidewalks, so if we want to go for a walk, I have finally started wearing both of them at once. We are a real sight, a mama in her winter coat and two identical babies tied to her hips kicking in glee.

I have had lots of other mamas say that it must be a hassle to wear both girls (especially after they have seen the humorously complicated process of getting both girls into hats and snowsuits, getting mama into her slings, then getting the girls in), but wearing them, even both at once, is so much easier than any other method of transporting them.

I found your site from your craigslist link since I am starting to think about trying a mei tai wrap on the back, along with a hip sling or a front wrap. It’s a great site and your stuff is beautiful!
